The Lemont Little League 11-year-old Tournament Team snared the state softball championship, beating rival Rock Falls 7 - 5 in a see-saw battle held in Beardstown, Illinois.
With score changes every inning, the lead swung back and forth throughout the game. Lemont jumped ahead in the top of the 6th and held on for the win.
The Championship contest was the second consecutive victory against Rock Falls, as Lemont needed to win both games to grab the title. Rock Falls has long been a nemesis for Lemont at every level of tournament play for years.
Every one of the players on this team played a role in its success. The roster included:
